About this blog!

oss4win is dedicated to prompting the usage of Open-source Software ( OSS ) on Windows. It's supposed to be helpful to:
  1. Users who are looking for an OSS working on Windows.
  2. Users who are trying to get an Open-source software work on their Windows machines;
  3. Developers who want to use solution based on OSS, like using GNU compiler and Open-source libraries.
You may ask why it's necessary to do this. I believe the more user base a software has, the faster it's getting better. For now the most market share of OS is grabbed by Microsoft. We can't expect all the users switch to Linux or FreeBSD in one night. So it's really important to get OSS work on as many Windows as possible and for as many people as possible. Besides, persuading a user to dump Windows is hard, but asking him to try out some wonderful oss would be much easier.
